Carolyn Day, a Topanga, California local known as the “Malibu Mom,” has gathered deep wisdom through a lifetime of diverse experiences. She performed in the circus—becoming the first person to do a back handspring on the back of a cantering horse—worked as a stunt double in Hollywood, and founded Growing Hope Gardens, a community space that empowers people of modest means and those experiencing homelessness through food, gardening, and connection. Along the way, she has raised two surfers—one of whom competes on the Canadian National Surf Team—all while surfing herself.

“The most valuable change that happened inside me was realizing that surfing wasn't just wave catching, it was my community.” -Carolyn Day
