Seea was nominated for four awards: “Wetsuit of the Year” for the Yulex natural rubber spring suit collection, “Women’s Marketing Campaign of the Year” for the “Generations” video series, “Women’s Swim Brand of the Year,” and “Breakout Brand of the Year.”
The full awards ceremony included 19 categories for the 2018 calendar year. The goal of the SIMA Awards is to identify the surf industry’s most influential companies and products, and recognize their efforts to advance and grow the industry over the past year. More than 500 attendees from surf companies and specialty retail shops were in attendance at the sold out event.
Seea took home awards for “Women’s Swim Brand of the Year” and “Breakout Brand of the Year,” marking the first time that a women’s brand has won the latter all-around award.
“It is surreal to have been nominated next to bigger and more established brands. I founded Seea in 2011 because I saw a lack of true representation of women in the surf industry. We created a new category in women’s swimwear with our fashion-forward rashguards and long-sleeve one-piece surf suits.
We are very proud to be a self-funded “small” company driven by the passion of surfing and creating beautiful things that empower women. We hope to be more than a swimwear company—we would love to inspire and support the women’s community by encouraging uniqueness and camaraderie at the same time, while making responsible decisions to lower our environmental impact. This award is dedicated to every person who believed in us.”

San Clemente, CA (April 11, 2016)– Innovative women’s surfwear brand Seea teamed up with Milan-based director, Luca Merli’s Block10 Productions for LUNAR, a short film featuring Seea ambassador, Leah Dawson. In LUNAR, Dawson expresses her art — surfing, shaping and music — in the unique landscape of Fuerteventura in the Canary Islands.
Located off the coast of Morocco, the treeless horizon and windswell waves of Fuerteventura were a stark contrast to Dawson’s tropical home of Oahu, Hawaii. In this picturesque backdrop, director Luca Merli documented Dawson’s awe at experiencing the foreign land: feeling the dry soil under her bare feet, navigating new waves with expert grace, and shaping her second surfboard, “Smoothie 2.”
“In Fuerteventura, reality is unlike anywhere I’ve been before,” Dawson says. “It feels like the moon. The first day I arrived in the Canaries, I walked barefoot atop the worn lava grounds… Though sharp, walking dried lava requires awareness of every single step, making us stay present. I continued to walk barefoot as we explored the island because I felt energized from the ground.”
The eight-minute film premiered at the Barcelona Surf City Festival on April 9-10 and will be screened at several surf film festivals around the world throughout the summer.
“We have opportunities to connect on a spiritual level with locals involved in surfing, because eventually wherever you go, there's going to be someone in love with the ocean, just like you,” Dawson says. “Surfing shrinks the degrees of separation within its community, therefore connecting us further to this wide web of surfers around the globe…
Further, traveling to places so different from whence we came, gives us a fresh reality, an enhanced recognition of the vast variety our planet provides us… It was an incredible experience to connect with the local surf culture through this way, as well as participate in creating another lasting art piece to be enjoyed in-motion.”

]]>San Clemente, CA (December 15, 2015)– Seea is pleased to present its 2016 collection — the brand's most ambitious and risk-taking assortment yet that continues to redefine the boundaries of surfwear. This season, Seea expanded and diversified its offerings to include more on-trend fashion swimsuits in addition to the brand’s stylish performance surf suits — all of which possess Seea’s signature look of modern vintage elegance, fun original prints, and flattering silhouettes.
For the 2016 collection, designer Amanda Chinchelli was inspired by the eclectic colors and patterns worn by native tribal women in Panama.
“It started with an image of a tribe in Panama. The women combined super geometric beads on their ankles and arms, tie-dye wrap skirts and floral, ethnic print tops. For the 2016 collection, I wanted to use all sorts of those fun, tropical, and eclectic prints together. Seea always combines geometric with organic prints but this time I wanted it to be an even stronger juxtaposition of prints and even brighter colors.” – Seea designer, Amanda Chinchelli
Highlights of the new collection include:
The collection was shot in historic Panama City, and reef breaks between scattered islands off the raw coast of Panama. The contrasting locations perfectly illustrate the romantic nostalgic elegance, yet playfully bright and eclectic spirit of the collection.
The first delivery of styles will be hitting retail stores such as Thalia Surf Shop and Shopbop.com in time for the holidays and is live on theseea.com now.

Seea Introduces Two New Neoprene Suits for Summer 2015
San Clemente, CA (June 9, 2015)– Continuing the philosophy of a layer-friendly neoprene wardrobe, Seea launches two new 2mm neoprene Spring suits for Summer 2015 that offer the right dose of cozy warmth with a touch of vintage attitude.
This season we went sleek and minimal with two styles — The Martinique Cut-Out One-Piece and the Cardiff Sleeveless Spring Suit — in black smoothie neoprene. Both suits are designed to wear on their own during overcast mornings or when the wind turns on; or paired with a zip-up jacket for extra warmth in the shoulder seasons.

The Cardiff 2mm Neoprene One-Piece is modeled after traditional tailoring patterns with glued darts that accentuate the waist, and makes the wearer feel like she's zipping up into a custom-made dress. A slick surface has a sultry mood, yet modest leg and neck openings means no hot mess wipeouts.
More awesome performance features include armhole openings that dip lower for better paddling flexibility. The snap button has added Velcro on one shoulder for extra stay-put security. Simply unsnap to easily step into the suit and gently pull it on.

For Immediate Release
San Clemente, CA (May 26, 2015)– Innovative women’s surfwear brand Seea teamed up with Milan-based director, Luca Merli’s Block10 Productions for a short film that brings vintage-inspired California surf style to the iconic Italian coastline.
Starring California-based Seeababe ambassadors Mele Saili and Jenayl Peters, the four-minute film follows the friends as they experience Italy for the first time — visiting famed Italian landmarks such the Cathedral and markets in Sicily, vineyards in Tuscany, and longboard surfing in the warm Mediterranean Sea.
For Seea designer Amanda Chinchelli who grew up in Italy, the 2015 collection was an ode to her homeland with golden geometric tiles reminiscent of southern Italy architecture, stripes that recall umbrellas across the Italian Riviera, and color combinations that evoke European sophistication and elegance.
The film’s wardrobe styled by Elisabetta Dal Bello (whose styling credits have appeared in Vanity Fair Italy and Italian Elle) juxtapose Seea’s swimwear with Italian ready-to-wear tailoring — perfectly illustrating Seea’s elegance and versatility from the waves to everyday wear.
“Seea in Italy” joins the “Onde Nostre” film series, which translates to “Our Waves,” and is an ongoing project by Block10 Productions that documents surfers, shapers and artists connected to the Italian surf culture. The film was shot on both digital film by cinematographer Giovanni Sbrokked Barbareris, and 16mm film with Bolex camera by Luca Merli.
“Today's best high definition cameras can track a drop of water at 300 frames per second and cost a fraction of the price of the outdated film technology,” explains Merli, founder of Block10 Productions based in Milan, Italy. “But film is something which has a special and unique look. It resembles memories — the way we dream. I like the idea of sacrificing details for style,” he continued.
The Seea in Italy film is available to watch now, and the swimwear featured in the film is available to shop at theseea.com.

San Clemente, CA (May 26, 2015)– In honor of Seea’s increasing distribution in the Southern Hemisphere, the brand collaborated with Byron Bay, Australia-based filmmaker Nathan Oldfield to create a short film, “Intimasea.” The film beautifully celebrates the camaraderie and grace of women’s longboard surfing on Australia’s famous point breaks.
Featuring Seea ambassadors Leah Dawson, Lola Mignot, Hallie Rohr, Karina Rozunko, Mele Saili and Makala Smith surfing entirely in Australia during the Noosa Festival of Surfing, Nathan Oldfield’s beautiful visual storytelling was a perfect match for the Seea’s 2015 collection of elegant swimsuits that are built for the waves.

“Unfortunately, when I was a grom, there weren’t many girls and women in the water,” Oldfield told The Inertia. “Back then, lineups tended to be very macho affairs — very competitive, crowded with full-on sword fights. Nowadays, the tables have completely turned, especially where I live. I for one am completely stoked to share waves with lady sliders. They bring a unique and beautiful and gentler energy to surfing culture; it is a privilege and a pleasure and, above all, an inspiration to share time in the ocean with sea sisters.”

The new collection expands upon Seea’s signature look of modern vintage elegance with more ready-to-wear items that easily transition from the ocean to any après surf occasion.
This season’s inspiration of the Italian Riviera and the homeland of designer, Amanda Chinchelli is alive in the original prints, unique color combinations, rich textured fabrics and newest styles.
“I just had my first child and was unable to go back home for 2 years. I was really homesick, so this season I wanted to celebrate my roots and the beauty of my Country. The December collection has a classic feminine elegance with tones of champagne, burgundy, navy and sunset metallics. For March and April I had fun with a brighter palette, geometric repeats and of course lots of stripes, dreaming of taking my daughter for a “pedalo’ ride” in the warm Mediterranean Sea.”
Italy is present in the very fibers of the swimsuits too, as each piece is constructed out of Italian luxury nylon/spandex fabrics in UPF rating 30+ to 50+ sun protection and special textured jacquarded fabrics from a renowned Italian fabric mill founded in 1952 — the very era of surf and beach nostalgia that Seea was originally inspired by.
From golden geometric tiles reminiscent of southern Italy architecture, to abstract waves and brushstrokes, all of the prints are originals designed by Seea to have a distinct sophisticated, modern and lively aesthetic. Brightly colored stripes and textured fabrics round out the palette, offering the right amount of vivid color, texture and depth.
The 2015 lookbook still photography was captured by two renowned surf photographers: Nick LaVecchia, whose work has appeared in Surfer, Surfing, The Surfer’s Journal, Foam Symmetry and Monster Children magazines to name a few; and accomplished photojournalist Gabe Sullivan, who is the West Coast Editor for Men’s File Magazine and Senior Writer for Surfer Magazine.

Following up on Seea’s pioneering surf suits such as the Hermosa one-piece with feminine sweetheart bust detail, the Swami's one-piece with drop waist shorts and the Leucadia bikini top and high-waist skirt-shorts bottom, the 2015 collection reinvents what’s expected of traditional surfwear into ensembles that are as classy, beautiful and elegant as the balletic grace of the women longboard surfers who wear them.

Seea Launches in Australia and Southern Hemisphere Retailers
San Clemente, CA (November 6, 2014)– Seea is pleased to announce it will be expanding distribution into the Australian and New Zealand market starting with deliveries this October for the beginning of the Spring/Summer season. Seea’s pioneering surf suits have gained a loyal following of women surfers around the world for pushing the envelope of stylish and elegant surfwear that’s wipeout-tested.
With more than seven years of experience in the surf and swim apparel industry, we are excited to have Byron Bay, Australia-based sales agent Leana Rack’s Prism Agency introducing Seea in the Southern Hemisphere.
“It's a rare thing to find a talented, motivated sales person who understands the dynamics of fashion forward retailers, but can still speak authentically from a surf perspective. Leana's lifestyle, interests, and outlook on life are so closely aligned with what we believe in as a brand, it's truly a super-natural fit, ” said Brian Greer, co-founder of Seea.
Rack’s ability to create authentic relationships in the Australian surf community around her home of Byron Bay, understanding of the fashion tastes of the region and proven sales experience makes her new sales agency, Prism a perfect match for Seea’s expansion into the Southern Hemisphere.

“Women’s surf culture has grown exponentially and it has also cultivated through popular demand, its own fashion niche — not only for women that surf but women that appreciate the ocean culture it represents on land,” said Rack of the current Australian market.
Rack continued, “Seea’s swim collections embody classic design, fine lines, grace and elegance in a swimsuit. Women are looking for swimwear that is functional and can translate into different areas of surf and fashion cultural activities. Seea’s collection fits a much-needed gap in the market here in women’s surf and fashion lifestyle stores.”
Seea aims to be placed in surf, surf lifestyle, concept boutiques and fashion stores in Australia and New Zealand. Current accounts include some of the top tastemaker surf and lifestyle shops: Patagonia Byron Bay, Salt Living, Noosa Longboards, Finbox Boardstore and The Surfing Tribe NZ, to name a few.
Key styles shipping to Southern Hemisphere focus on the best of Seea’s UPF 30+ to 50+ sun-protective surf suits, rashguards, surf leggings and surf-tested bikinis. Highlights include the Hermosa one-piece with feminine sweetheart bust detail, the Riviera one-piece with vintage- inspired style lines, Jalama bikini that’s both athletically supportive and fashionable, and leggings that can be worn seamlessly from the sidewalk into the sea.

Seea Releases Exclusive Limited Edition 2014 Summer Neoprene Collection
San Clemente, CA (August 4, 2014)– Seea is proud to announce the release of its limited edition neoprene collection exclusively available at TheSeea.com.
Seea’s first out-of-the-box women’s surf playsuits in nylon/lycra revolutionized surf suit design three years ago and now Seea is bringing that fresh approach to surf neoprene. Seea’s 2014 Summer Neoprene Collection includes a tight offering of four perfect pieces that exude sophistication and grace without sacrificing performance.
“I designed our Spring neoprene pieces to mix and match for creating your own look,” said Seea designer Amanda Chinchelli. “The Carmel One-Piece features the feminine sweetheart neckline of our famous Hermosa and looks super elegant in smooth skin neoprene. I’ve always wanted neoprene pants and the high waist of the Marina Neoprene Pant has a flattering vintage feel, plus the extra waist coverage makes it stay up better."
The collection includes:
The Carmel Neoprene One-Piece: Seea’s signature Hermosa sweetheart neckline meets a zip-front 2mm neoprene one-piece. The heavy-duty zipper goes straight to the top so the pull-tab doesn’t dig into the chest. The smooth skin rubber body cuts down on wind chill and surf wax getting stuck into the fabric. This perfect one-piece is stylish without being overdesigned.
The Rincon Jacket: The Rincon 2mm neoprene zip-up jacket offers just the right amount of warmth over a swimsuit for balmy days. Designed to be worn with The Marina Neoprene Pants, the combo is a prettier alternative to the traditional 2mm full suit, plus offers more styling options.
The Marina Neoprene Pant: Leggings are all the rage and these have 2mm neoprene warmth. The high waistline of The Marina pant doesn’t dig into your skin, double layered knee pads offers paddling comfort and they are easy to get on and off. It can be styled with bikini top for sunny days, or with The Rincon Jacket for maximum warmth.
Committed to domestic production, the 2014 Seea Summer Neoprene Collection was produced entirely in Southern California with a trusted factory that has specialized in wetsuits for numerous years.

Being at a tropical beach surfing every day is the ultimate dream for any surfer woman so the brand took the Seeababes from California—Mele Saili, Jenayl Peters and Luki O’Keefe—out to Mexico to live it! They met up with local gals Lola Mignot and Lucy Mejia over there and were blessed with magical perfect swell during the trip.
The 2014 lookbook still photography was captured by renowned surf photographer Nick LaVecchia, whose work has appeared in Surfer, Surfing, The Surfer’s Journal, Foam Symmetry and Monster Children magazines to name a few.
Following up on Seea’s pioneering surf suits such as the Hermosa one-piece with feminine sweetheart bust detail, the Swami's one-piece with drop waist shorts and the Leucadia bikini top and high-waist skirt-shorts bottom, the 2014 collection pushes the envelope on fashionable surfwear that’s wipeout-tested.
